This is an ancient stone castle consisting of 2 houses which are connected with a door between them on the 1st floor. The houses consist of 2 storeys – the ground floor and the 1st floor. There are 190 sq m of living space, with 90 sq m more, under the roof, which will be used as the gallery to achieve more space. The southern part of the house is located in the very centre of the settlement, close to the shops. The northern part of the house, with a large garden is very private and peaceful, leaving the impression of being far from the settlement. The house plot, a garden is of the surface of 800 sq m. There is one old fresh water tank of the capacity of 8 cubic meters and 2 new fresh water tanks of the capacity of 76 cubic meters (together). In 1756 a ship-owner and captain build this residence house on this small island and his advisers were architects from Venice. He was the wealthiest person on the island. The house was used as residence house, county office, hotel, restaurant and vacation house. The stone was shipped in from different places in Adriatic. During this year renovation, the beautiful, quality stone was revealed underneath the old concrete. State of the art procedure of renovation was implemented combining old techniques, original materials along with some of the new materials, all in compliance with the Institute of Ancient Monuments. This island was settled during the Roman Empire and it was populated by Croats in the 8th century. In the 18th century, the island ship-owners were in possession of more than 100 merchant ships. After Napoleon cancelled the trade privileges with Venice, the island economy started to stagnate. Nowadays, this is a quiet island mostly inhabited with people from around the world who have their private houses on the island, or rent houses and apartments. Some of the local people live off tourism and eco agriculture including the production of olive oil, wine as well as sheep raising and fishing. The island has all the facilities; elementary school, police station, First Aid, post office, shops, restaurants, cafés, disco clubs, marina for boats and yachts. Island is pedestrian, cars are not allowed, only tractors for supply (in determined periods of day). There are no hotels or any other industry causing any kind of pollution. There is an abundant supply of water on the island; every house has a fresh water tank. The island is very popular among wealthy population. There are no dangerous animals on the island. In the peak season there is a maximum of 5 000 persons on the island.
