Celebrities Are Coming to Croatia!

Celebrities are coming to Croatia

Schumacher to hunt bears, Viewegh on honeymoon
* Luciano Benetton, Caroline of Monaco and the Ecclestone couple will visit the Brijuni islands, Dugi otok and Dubrovnik, the president of Slovakia Rudolf Schuster will relax in Dubrovnik, Slovak beer king Karl Konarik leading elite to BozavaI.

Is that Steven Spielberg?! – the inhabitans of Dubrovnik rubbed their eyes in disbelief last year when they saw one of the world’s most famous directors in the port .
They also rubbed their eyes when in Stradun they saw the Belgian King and Queen embraced and Princess Caroline of Monaco. We are not Ibiza, Hawaii or the Bahamas, but the blue blood, famous and rich people like to go on a holiday in Croatia, also! Judging by the rumors, the world jet-set will not fail to visit the Croatian coast again this summer. We found out they will be everywhere, from north to south!
The Adriatic also attracts thecultural elite, ie, the famous Czech writer Michal Viewegh. Popular Michal, who is fond of Croatia, will spend his honeymoon on the Adriatic coast! We learn, in fact, that he will set off on the islandof Hvar with his (second) fiancée in late July . Until then, the author of the bestselling “Bringing up Girls in Bohemia” and “The Blissful Years of Lousy Living” , is busy building a house in the Czech town Salzava, where they will get married.
Dubrovnik is eagerly awaiting the famous guests. The Excelsior, a five-star hotel, is in a constant state of readiness, because, as they say at a hotel, the famous always come at the last minute! The jet-set goes on vacation after the Wimbledon ends, mid-July. Their arrival is announced only two hours before departure of their private aircraft.

Reservations under different names
– We find out such news usually at the last moment because all the celebrity reservations arecarried out under different names. That way they protect their privacy – say at the hotel.
But even he is coming on a private holiday, the Slovak President Rudolf Schuster was not able to protect his privacy from the journalists of Vecernji list. He is coming on vacation with his wife in Dubrovnik, in July, as we learn from reliable sources. At the beginning of the season, theSouthmost part of the coast hosted Ivica Kostelic with his girlfriend Caroline Lalive. The actor Martin Sheen with hisdaughter also arrived, then the soap star Thiago Lacerda. However, the world’s jet-set will surely also arrive to buy clothes. The Excelsior is soon to open a boutique of English fashion duo Gharani-Strok (Iranian Nargess Gharani and Croat Vanja Strok ), who dresses Kylie Minogue, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Madonna! We can exect the celebrities at the opening, also.
At the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, starting on 10th of July, besides the local celebrities, the famous French musician Michel Legrand is also coming. The singer Tereza Kesovija invited him. Denyce Graves and acclaimed violinist Julian Rachlin will perform at the Summer Festival. Neither the end of the season won’t pass without a celebrity – the Formula 1 driver Niki Lauda and Ralf Schumacher should arrive to Flugtag, the festival of homemade crafts. It is also announced the arrival of Goran Ivanisevic.

In Dubrovnik, the usual guest is niblewoman Francesca von Habsburg. The Ecclestone couple will certainly not miss sailing in Dubrovnik waters, as well as the celebrated fashion designer Luciano Benetton. The latter will as we learn, from Dubrovnik go to Telascica Nature Park on Dugi otok. The blue oasis is tempting the rich foreigners. However, Caroline of Monaco and Slavica and Bernie Ecclestone will sail from Dubrovnik to Telascica with their yachts. And the inhabitants of Zadar hope that maybe even Steven Spielberg comes again, who sailed all across the Adriatic last year! The neighboring small town of Bozava was recently bought by a Slovak beer king Karl Konarik, and he attracts the elite of Eastern Europe. Srecko Katanec, the coach of Slovenian national football team, is staying in Zadar, every year, and during the summer plays for an indoor-fodball club in Zadar.

Zucchero, Jovanotti and Motorhead in Istria
The rich and famous will go also in Istria, where the most popular destinations are Brijuni and Rovinj. Luciano Benetton loves Brijuni very much, soit is expected that he will visit this national park this summer. Besides Benetton, Princess Caroline of Monaco loves to come to Brijuni, whether with a private aircraft or with her yacht “Pacha III.”

It has been only a year since the exclusive Villa Angelo d ‘Oro opened in Rovinj. There stayed the Princess Anne Marie of Lichtenstein and actress Jolie Richardson who co-starred with Mel Gibson in the movie “Patriot”. This summer, Slavica Radic Ecclestone announced the arrival to the villa. There stayed also the Minister of Foreign Affairs Vlado Lagumdžija and violin virtuoso Stefan Milenkovic. The latter each year spends his summer vacations with his mother in Rovinj, which is their place of origin.

And also this summer, a number of famous names is expected in Istria, like Zucchero, who announced a concert at the Arena. Jovanotti also arrives,as well as very poular band Motorhead. MTV Valkana beach festival in August hosts the world’s most famous DJs of electronic music such as Sven Vath, Valentino Kanciani, Stacey Pullen, Seb Fontaine, Timo Maas, Ian Pooley, Joe T. Vannelli, Claudio Coccoluto and others. Also Ulissys theater, which was founded in Vodnjan by Rade Serbedzija, Lenka Udovicki and Borislav Vujcic, this summer probably brings many visitors. Mira Furlan and Nigel Osborne, the composer are already staying in Istria.

But the celebrities don’t find only the Adriatic to be alluring – they also like Gorski Kotar. Specifically, one of the best Formula 1 drivers, Ralf Schumacher, likes it.. Younger, 27-year-old brother of world champion Michael, will come to the countryside of Vrbovsko and Cabar to hunt bears, at the end of competition season in September. Ralf, an avid hunter, shot a bear last year in Vrbovsko.
And, since his friends from Austria recently built a house in Central Istria, is not impossible that Ralf also goes there.

The image was magnificent: in a few tens of meters of space, two megaships anchored, British “Petra”, already familiar here, and the fascinating “Main” of the Italian owner. Relaxed, Bernie Ecclestone observed, the already familiar Hvar waterfront, while Giorgio Armani was preparing for the first time to set foot on the island, once voted one of the most beautiful in the world. Although the former Croatian son-in-law, Bernie remained ours, knowing almost every bay, bying at the market, and his words have sung hundreds of times the little secrets that attract him to return to the Adriatic. Those are not even the world exclusive news any more.

Although he is living only a few hours of sailing away, the aged king of elegance, Giorgio Armani, is seafaring for the first time across the sea of his overseas neighbor. Armani, among others, owns a house on the ultra posh Sardinia, where many Italian, and the world jet-setters have settled. Sardinia protects its exclusivity with extremely high prices. At one time we stayed at the famous hotel “Cala di Volpe” on the Costa Smeralda, where spending a night, if memory serves us well, amounted close to two million the then lira, which was also equivalent to two thousand the then DEM. That is where the famous hedonist Silvio Berlusconi purchased the villa, and he, if nothing else, knows how to enjoy life even in old age.
“Hvar is what I was looking for my entire life” said Giorgio Armani, who, after visiting Hvar, visited Brac, Korcula, Dubrovnik and Cavtat. “Hvar is what I was looking for my entire life” is a sentence that would be exploited to exhaustion by every better organized tourist country. PR agencies would start wotking, the photos of Armani taking a walk on Stradun or on Cavtat boardwalk would be launched to the thousands of websites, serious newspapers and tabloids. Half of the world population would know that the king of fashion is on holiday in Croatia and what he thinks about our country, his impressions…

And we will remain content with a fact that a world celebrity commended the look of our country, took a walk and ate some fish, returned to Sardinia, and the information about his visit will be recorded only on some local website. Therefore, something is wrong with our approach to the use of the fact that the Croatian coast is interesting to the most famous people in the world. In this respect, we don’t use all the benefits of modern technology enough.

Croatian neighbour, Montenegro, boosted its own tourist image using the international jet set, but not of the caliber of Armani, Benetton, Abramovich or Malkovich. Their Prime Minister met Claudia Schiffer there, was photographed with her and set in motion a propaganda machine that revealed to the world the fact that a famous model went on vacation in a relatively new, still undiscovered tourist paradise.
And the pepole started to learn about Montenegro. That model would probably pass relatively unnoticed here, and actually, in Croatia arrive the top of the tops of the international jet set, which is a years-long fact of first order. Obviously, this very picky world elite would not come to us if there was nothing to see, eat and drink here, or if they were not able to enjoy the first-class enterntainment and thecharms of extraorinary nature.
“We had Armani and Ecclestone at the same time, we haven’t scored in marketing. Those people probably had a good time, but the Croatian tourism will not have much use of it, because we do not know how to use the marketing tool. We have the obsolette marketing management since no one deals with such matters, nor to knows how to.

In the more capable states, Armani, Gates or someone else of that caliber, woul be received the President or the Prime Minister, and, via an institution that would deal only with this kind of promotion, the photos would be launched towards thousands of international agencies. The media today has tremendous power. It shoul be known how to market the arrival of the international jet set towards the market of world sensations and half-sensations. And a market is hungry for this information, “said Miroslav Dragicevic, director of Horwath Consulting, which, inter alia, performed a few strategic master plans of Croatian tourism.

In Croatia, a business is not done not even when the things are offered on a platter. Claudio Stojnić, the director of the Croatian National Tourist Board in Milan, says the same when we asked whether Armani and Benetton’s trip to Croatia could encourage the Italians, who have not yet vacationed here, to offer us their trust. “Of course the Armani’s arrival in Croatia is a good and usable information, but the question is whether it would reach Italy. To speak the truth, his visit would not benefit us before the next tourist season, but it would certainly benefit us. However, such things should be processed and placed on the market in a different manner “says Stojnić.

The Croatian tourism has a worthy opponent. Our islands, among others, are rivals of Spain Mallorca and wild Ibiza, Portugal Madeira, romantic Santorini or previously mentioned Sardinia … Our coast is in the same match with Turkish Antalya, the devastated Spanish Catalonia, but also with magical Azure coast … The finesses are prevailing, and we, unfortunately, are still not elaborating those finesses. Mallorca became rich when, on that island, like which there are dozens in Croatia, the first lands were purchased by Boris Becker and former Prime Minister Gerhard Schroeder.
After they broke the ice, tens of thousands of Germans followed. They even have their own mayor! We certainly don’t want that, but Mallorca is a sign that could lead us to many
useful things. Did Becker and the first pioneers bought land or it was given to them? They were not buying, at least not at the market price, but the recipe, that has been known untill then in the rest of the advanced world, was applied.

“There is no doubt that we need to draw well-known clientele, it would mean a great deal for Croatian tourism. I mean not only to the coast but also inland, in the regions that are not yet so famous. Becker, for example, was a German idol, who was copied by thousands of its citizens. Why should we not find some German, Italian, Russian, French or British … idol, and frankly, away from the public, explain them what it is about in order to attract the thousands of investors in Croatia? “- says Dragicevic.

Paradise for the blue blood entourage and cultural legends

It is a rather long list of world famous people that have sailed across the Adriatic over the past few years. Bill Gates is a constant guest, some claim that he comes here every year, but he does not like publicity, and he is often not revealed. Anyway, a few weeks ago, he was “caught” on Krka Falls, where he was with the children and his wife Melinda. When he saw that he was “discovered”, he run away. We do not know how long he stayed in Croatia. Formerly, Krka also enchanted Michael Schumacher, and the Jordanian princess Rania and her husband King Abdullah.

Since he is also common guest who comes everyyear in Croatia, we have also adopted Roman Abramovich. He is sailing across the Adriatic in ships that are amongst the largest in the world. The question is also whether he always shows himsellf to the public or sometimes takes a vacation for his soul, without the pomp. When, however, he comes down to Dubrovnik, he doesn’t require to pass unnoticed.

Two or three years ago, Tom Cruise was sailing around Dubrovnik, while Sharon Stone was thinking about buying one of the islands of the Croatian archipelago. Dubrovnik is chosen mostly by world’s most famous actors. There, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones arrived unannounced, took a walk on Stradun and went to their house to – Mallorca. The walls were also visited by Roger Moore, John Malkovich, Kevin Spacey … The old Dubrovnik guests are also Carolina and Ernst of Hanover.

The oldest daughter of Moroccan King Hassan II was on vacation on the island of Hvar and the town of Split, renting a few dozen hotel rooms. We have witnessed unprecedented hype when Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, King of Saudi Arabia and one of the richest people in the world, visited the Brijuni islands and Dalmatia. He sailed to Brijuni in 2008 with three ships, the largest of which, “Golden Odyssey”, was 74 meters long. He brought with him a suite of hundred of people.

Also, the most important names in world music art paraded through Croatia. These days Jose Carreras organized a phenomenal spectacle in Zadar. The similar delight was caused by the legendary Elton John with concert to remember.
